
The object of this course is to become Cisco certified by studying a comprehensive and structured series of modules, taking you through TMA’s (tutor marked assignments) to prepare you to sit the Cisco CCNA and, for those taking further studies, the CCNP certificate examinations.
Practical class training and live labs, with real time exercises, give the opportunity to practise what has been taught through the course work.
CCNA Foundation
The student will undertake a series of learning modules with tutor support as required. Work study is enhanced by digital video on CD with graphical illustrations and narration to reinforce the key concepts introduced in the course. For students who have completed the A+, this section will be for the revision of the key concepts required to begin N+.
CCNA
The course includes: basic networking concepts, protocols, remote & WAN connectivity, TCP/IP fundamentals, firewalls & proxies, network clients, installing NetWare 6.5 and Windows Server 2003.
CCNP
The course covers: wans and routers, managing Cisco IOS software, routing protocols, intermediate TCP/IP, classless routing, switching concepts, virtual Lans, scaling IP addresses, PPP, ISDN & DDR and introduction to network administration.
Class Practical Training
Students may choose to undertake this first part of the course with or without practical class training. For those who choose to include practical training within their course, the following details apply.
The student will not require practical training before the successful completion of Parts A-B of the course. The practical training is designed to reinforce the syllabus and answer any questions the student may have regarding specific areas. All arrangements for the use of the computer for pra ctice lessons will be carried out by the college. The college will always strive to arrange suitable times and venues but reserves the right to change venues and times for computer practise as needs dictate.
Live Labs
Live Labs will be conducted at specific intervals during your course. This will give you the opportunity to implement what you have learnt in real-time situations.
